8-Mp sensor uses rear-imaging technology

The 1/3-in., 8-Mpixel OV8810 CMOS image sensor uses a unique 1.4-µm-pixel illumination technology, OmniBSI, that essentially inverts the sensor to collect light from the backside. By offering the most direct light-to-pixel path, the approach is said to give best-in-class low-light sensitivity in a small footprint.

Able to fit in an 8.5 x 8.5 x 7-mm camera module, the imager can output full resolution images at 10 fps, HD video at 60 fps, or 1080p at 30 fps. In QVGA resolution, the sensor can work at 120 fps, and it supports 8-/10-/12-bit RAW RGB data over a 2-lane high speed MIPI or parallel interface.
