Small dc/dc converter produces 150 W

Housed in a package normally used by a 50-W converter, the supply enables
users to shrink equipment

The JW150 Series dc/dc converter generates 150 W, yet comes in an
industry-standard package measuring just 2.4 (L) x 2.28 (W) x 0.5 (H) in.
–a package normally reserved for a 50-W converter. The converter uses a
proprietary, soft-switching power topology to reduce switching losses and
produce an efficiency of 84% at full load. The input range of the JW150 is
36 to 72 Vdc, and the output is 5 V at 30 A. Output voltage is adjustable
over a 60% to 110% range. The operating temperature range is 40 degrees
to 100 degreesC. A heat sink can be added for higher-temperature
operation. Load regulation is +/-0.5%, and line regulation is +/-0.2%.
Output ripple is 100 mVp-p on the 5-V output. Isolation voltage is 1,500
Vdc, capacitance is 2,000 pF, and resistance exceeds 10 megohms. The
converter is protected from overvoltages and short circuits. ($113
