ECL ASICs run 5-Gbit/s data
Two small gate arrays aim at optical transmission and measurement
equipment. The E128VH has 128 gates in a round ceramic 28-pin flatpack. It
has gate speeds of 40 ps at 1 mA, a fanout of 1, into 0.3 mm metal. Output
rise and fall are 55 and 45 ps. The E500H has 504 gates and speeds to 3
Gbits/s. (E128VH, $140 ea/10,000–available now; E500H, $175 ea/10,
