Interface controls flat-panel displays
The CD650 is an interface controller for electroluminescent (EL) and
gas-plasma flat-panel displays. The board accepts RS-422 or RS-232 inputs
up to 38.4 kbaud, or a parallel input at greater than 20,000 bytes/s.
Full bit-mapped graphics is provided, along with complete video attributes
including double-wide and double-high characters, software control of
brightness, and displayable internal diagnostics. Also provided is a
second RS-232 serial port for a touch panel or keyboard, and a two-page
video screen buffer. Each page may be written to or displayed separately.
The CD650 uses Intel's N80C188-12 microprocessor and interfaces directly
to Planar EL or Panasonic plasma displays. The board measures 5.6 x 7.4 x
