12-bit absolute encoder uses 4 wires
The AstroCODER/150 is a resolver-based absolute encoder that requires
only four wires between a transducer and electronic converter. The encoder
is scalable and has a built-in tachometer, offset, and power supply, and
can be used as a single- or dual-axis encoder. When operating with two
resolver inputs, it provides a control signal to keep the two shafts
position-synchronized. Position readings are unaffected by power
disruptions. The AstroCODER/150 has four simultaneous data outputs for
each shaft: digital-parallel position; serial position and speed; dc
voltage representing digital-parallel, serial position or speed, or
differential position; and high- and low-speed alarms. The configuration
of the output and other parameters are field-settable to suit any
application. The user can select binary, BCD, or gray code; RS422 or RS485
protocol; TTL or open collector; and CW or CCW direction of rotation. The
AstroCODER/150 is scalable in user units between 16 and 4,096 with 12-bit
resolution. It accepts remote registration signals for zero reset, as well
as data freeze for use with any PLC. (Single-axis system, from $700
ea/large qty–stock.) Astrosystems, Inc. Lake Success, NY Janice Mayer
