Clock oscillator operates in 3.3-V systems
Miniature surface-mount device is available over a wide frequency range
As the trend toward low-voltage operation continues to heat up, another
3.3-V device has just hit the market–this one a miniature clock
oscillator. Designated the F4000, this ceramic, surface-mount oscillator
employs HCMOS technology and is available over a frequency range of 1.8432
to 50.000 MHz. Like other low-voltage devices, the F4000 helps reduce
system power consumption and concomitant heat generation and increases the
operating life of battery-powered equipment such as laptop and notebook
computers and test instruments. The F4000 is also well suited for use in
systems of mixed-voltage design (5 and 3.3 V.) Other important features
of the oscillator include tri-state enable/disable, small size (7.5 x 5.0
x 2.0 mm), and availability in tape-and-reel format. The F4000 operates
over a temperature range of -10 degrees to +70 degreesC. (Under $3/prod
qty–stock to 10 weeks.) Fox Electronics, Ft. Meyers, FL Technical
