Credit-card-size board is PC compatible

The GCAT is a PC-compatible board in a 3.4 x 2.6-in. format. Designed for
low-power, embedded applications, the board is based on a 14-MHz F8680
processor from Chips and Technologies. The 8680 has built-in graphics
capability and can drive LCD or CRT displays. A serial port is provided on
the board, as is 1 Mbyte of DRAM and a 512-Kbyte ROM disk capability. With
DOS and BIOS installed, about 400 Kbytes of application program space
remains. The GCAT also has an on-board speaker, calendar clock, negative
voltage generator for LCD screens, and a PCMCIA interface. Power
requirements are 73 mA at 5 V under normal operating conditions and below
600μA in suspend mode. Expansion to any I/O is via PCbus. A GCAT
development system permits ease of programming and combines dedicated
prototyping and peripheral boards with a variety of I/O connectors and a
floppy-disk drive. ($799 LEN, I must yet verify if this is for the GCAT
board alone..) The Saelig Co., Victor, NY Carol Goldsmith 716-425-3753
