Development board helps JPEG design
The JPEG Still Image Board Developers Kit is a sample design for a
ISA-bus image-compression board based on C-Cube's CL550 JPEG processor,
running 10 MHz. The vendor believes customers will be able to build boards
to retail for under $500. The board supports gray scale, YUV, CMYK, and
24-bit RGB formats. It compresses or decompresses a 24-bit 640 x 480 image
in 0.7 s on a 386SX PC. The kit also includes a demo application, which
will import a 24- or 8-bit BMP file, or 8-bit gray-scale image, and
compress it to a standard JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format) file. ($1,
