DSP-based chipset for personal communications
The SQ3214 modem chipset combines V.32/V.32bis data modes with low-speed
data and voice capability, V.17 and V.29 Group 3 fax modes, as well as
Caller ID, MNP 2-5, and V.42/V.42bis features into four chips. When
integrated into a PC environment, the chipset enables the transmission of
voice, fax, and data with the ability to detect dual-tone multifrequency
tones during voice message transmission. The SQ3214 comprises four basic
chips: the SC11297 analog front end; the SC11083 logic and interface
devices; the SC11091 controller; and the SC23M03 DSP chip. The DSP and
controller firmware is stored in ROMs and SRAMs. The chipset is available
in PLCCs and plastic QFPs. ($93 ea/10,000–available now.) Sierra
