Digital audio board uses Dolby AC-2 coding
Dolby AC-2 coding has been included in the SX-20 DSP-based audio board
for PC- and PS/2-compatible computers. The board uses the Texas
Instruments TMS320C31 floating-point chip. The SX-20 provides real-time
direct-to-disk storage or transmission of 20 Hz to 20 kHz audio at 128
kbits/s per channel. The board can also transmit over T1 phone lines. The
storage formats are software-selectable and can be either, PCM, ADPCM,
DVI, or CD-ROM XA, as well as Dolby AC-2. The input resolution is 16 bit
with sigma-delta conversion (64 times oversampling) with an 18-bit,
8-times oversampled output. The total harmonic distortion is 0.005% in
both record and playback modes. Languages supported include C, Pascal,
QuickBasic, and assembler. Drivers for DOS and Windows 3.1 are available.
