Embedded CPU modules use 386SL
The EPC-21 and EPC-22 are 386SL-based CPU boards that form the heart of
the manufacturer's family of modular computers for embedded-control
applications. Packaged in a 3 x 5.25-in. format, the boards are a logical
extension of the company's embedded products based on the VME and VXI
buses. Running at 16 and 25 MHz, respectively, the boards comprise a CPU,
up to 20 Mbytes of dynamic RAM, on-board BIOS EPROM, two serial ports, and
an up-front keyboard port. A time-of-day clock and watchdog timer are also
included. The EPC-22 also comes with a 387SX coprocessor and 64 Kbytes of
cache. Expansion capability is provided by the company's PC Expansion
Module technology and PCMCIA add-in cards. The convection-cooled boards
are manufactured to MIL-T-84-400, Class 3 specs for rugged instruments.
