Handheld LCR meter incorporates two digital displays

The Model 878, a handheld LCR meter, includes several features that speed
component testing and sorting. For example, a dual digital display
simultaneously reads out both capacitance value and dissipation factor
when testing capacitors. Similarly, inductance and Q are displayed
simultaneously when measuring inductors. Sorting is speeded significantly
by the Model 878's relative mode, which stores the value of a reference
part and then shows a plus or minus difference between the reference value
and a component's measured value. Going one step further, the 878 can be
set to sound a beep when a component's value falls outside of a
preselected 1%, 5%, or 10% tolerance around the reference value. The
Model 878 includes a data-hold function to freeze any displayed readings,
a minimum/maximum/average function that keeps track of the running average
of readings and records the highest and lowest running values; and both
manual and automatic ranging. Rounding out its features are pushbutton
calibration and battery or ac-line operation. Capacitance can be measured
0.1 pF to 10,000 μF, inductance from 0.1 μH to 2,000 H, and
resistance from 0.1 ohms to 20 M Ω. Two test frequencies are
available, 120 Hz or 1 kHz. ($275–stock.) B&K Precision/Maxtec Chicago,
