500-mA regulator has 0.5-V dropout
The LM2937 is a positive voltage regulator capable of supplying up to 500
mA of load current. At full rated load current, the device has a typical
dropout voltage of 0.5 V. Other features of the LM2937 include the
ability to withstand +60/-50-V transients, a guaranteed operating range of
-40 degrees to +125 degreesC, and short-circuit and thermal-shutdown
protection. The device is available in 5-, 8-, 10-, 12-, and 15-V
versions, and comes in 3-lead TO-220 packages. ($0.90 ea/100–available
