Log amp provides signal strength indication

The AD606 50-MHz logarithmic amplifier can be used for signal strength
indication in mobile phones and receivers as well for limiting output in
FM receivers. As a log amp, overall dynamic range is -75 to +5 dBm, with
+/-1 dB of flatness. Output is +0.5 V for a -75-dBm input and +3.5 V for a
+5-dBm input, with a log linearity of +/-0.4 dB. As a limiter, the AD606
provides a hard-limited signal output as a differential current of +/-1.2
mA from open-collector outputs. Transition times are 1.5 ns, with +/-3
degrees of phase stability at 10.7 MHz over the 80-dB range, with useful
operation to 70 MHz. The device typically dissipates 65 mW from +5-V
supplies. It comes in 16-pin DIPs and SO packages. ($19.95 ea/1,
