Oscillators for ultra-small computers and disk drives
L1280 Series crystal clock oscillators are designed specifically to
accommodate the greatly reduced voltage, power, and size requirements of
pocket-size personal computers and disk drives. The oscillators operate
from an input voltage of 3.3 V, making them suitable for notebook
computers. Moreover, the oscillators have a seated height of only 0.
160-in., making them well suited for not only notebook computers, but disk
drives as well. The oscillators can drive 30-pF or 10-TTL loads and cover
the frequency range from 1.8432 through 125 MHz, with a choice of 0.01%,
0.025%, or 0.05% stability. (50 MHz, $2.45 ea/1,000–8 to 10 weeks ARO.)

Oscillator provides tight stability in battery-powered
applications
The MCXO (Microcomputer Controlled Crystal Oscillator) employs a
high-stability overtone SC-cut crystal and microcomputer-controlled
compensation instead of an oven to achieve (+/-)3 x 10-8 -ppm
stability. Thus, with a maximum power consumption of only 75 mW, this
oscillator is well suited for battery-powered applications where power
requirements of an ovenized oscillator are prohibitive. It is also suited
for applications where fast warmup and high-accuracy are required.
Standard MCCO output frequencies are 10 MHz and 1 kHz; other frequencies
are optional. The MCCO is available in commercial, industrial, and
military versions, including radiation-tolerant designs for military and
space applications. (Commercial version, from $500 ea/500–stock.) Q-Tech

Surface-mount TCXOs have power-saving sleep mode
These ultra-small temperature-compensated crystal oscillators are
contained in a 32-pin leadless ceramic chip carrier package only 0.450 (L)
x 0.550 (W) x 0.141 (H) in. They are claimed to be the smallest completely
integrated CMOS TCXOs available. The oscillators, designated the NTC-1000
Series, are available over a range of 2.1 to 20 MHz. They provide either a
square-wave or a sine-wave output. A programmable sleep mode allows the
user to disable the output signal for reduced current drain. While in this
mode, the oscillator and its compensation circuits remain operational to
maintain frequency stability. Frequency adjustment is provided by a serial
peripheral interface or by an optional dc voltage frequency adjustment.
