VME board uses dual TMS320C40 processors
The Spirit-40 is a parallel-processing VME DSP board based on two
TMS320C40 processors operating at either 40 or 50 MHz. The board is
designed for large network applications and can support topologies such as
rings, hypercubes, meshes, and pyramids. The board uses a
distributed-memory architecture and can support up to 16 Mbytes of
on-board SRAM. Board configuration information and boot code are stored in
EPROM. Communication is via twelve 20-Mbyte/s ASM-C links (six from each
processor), each with its own interrupt signal to the C40 and reset-out
signal. A third signal sends out a global reset for interconnected arrays
of C40s. Each link also has its own DMA controller.
The Spirit-40 also has dual 50-Mbyte/s expansion interfaces, a symmetric
design to simplify software development, and a user-replaceable front
panel for custom processing applications. Software support includes
Helios, Nucleus RTX, Parallel C, SPOX, and Virtuoso. (1-Mbyte, 40-MHz
