VXI mainframes include frequency standards

VXI mainframes include frequency standards Two VXIbus mainframes, Models
1261AE and 1261AR, contain embedded frequency standards. Model 1261AE
incorporates a high-stability oven oscillator with aging characteristics
of 5 x 10-10 per day, while model 1261AR has rubidium standard with
stability of 5 x 10-11 per month. Both 13-slot mainframes provide
distribution of the standard through as many as five buffered outputs.
This permits both the slot-zero modules within the VXIbus chassis and
external rack-and-stack instruments to be locked to one accurate standard.
Four different frequencies are available: 1 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, and 1
PPS. The user can mix and match any combination, depending on the
requirements of the devices that need to be locked. Both models
incorporate monitoring capability, which senses each reference output,
sounds an alarm, and implements a GPIB SRQ if the signal is lost. The
1261AR also monitors the lock signal on the rubidium. These alarms alert
the user to any situation where the frequency standard is not available,
warning that measurement or system accuracy may be affected. (Model
1261AE, $9,995–6 to 8 weeks ARO; Model 1261AR, $18,550–12 to 16 weeks
ARO.) Racal-Dana Instruments, Inc. Irvine, CA Arlene Meadows
