`Super' PLL chip combines multiple functions in single package

Telecom device can be used for both transmit and receive RF loops

The MB1510 is a 1-GHz, 3.3-V, dual-serial-input, phase-locked-loop (PLL)
frequency synthesizer for cellular and cordless telephone applications.
The device integrates two PLL circuits, two prescalers, and analog
switches onto a single chip–functions that previously may have required
up to four separately packaged devices.
According to the company, the MB1510's level of integration allows
designers to configure both transmit and receive RF loops for their
application with a single chip. In addition, the device's on-chip analog
switches decrease PLL lock-up time, and the 1.1-GHz maximum operating
frequency is claimed to be the highest of any dual “super” PLL device.
The MB1510 operates over a -40 degrees to 85 degreesC temperature range
and typically uses 15 mA. The device is available in 20-pin SO packages,
and includes separate power supply pins for each PLL circuit. ($4.80
ea/25,000–available now.) Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc. San Jose, CA
