Sparcstation 2 boards Futurebus+
Along with the Sparcstation 2 workstation's established features, a
single-slot board adds many other features to complement its Futurebus+
environment
The Model FBC-SS2 single-slot computer is the first implementation of a
Sparcstation 2 workstation on a Futurebus+ board. Designed for embedded
systems, the board supports 32-bit and full 64-bit Futurebus+ transfers at
rates of up to 3.2 Gbytes/s. Along with all the features of the
Sparcstation 2 and a memory that is expandable to 64 Mbytes, the FBC-SS2
has two SBus slots, a SCSI-2 port, and an Ethernet port. The processing
core comprises a 40-MHz L64831 Sparc integer unit and floating-point unit,
an L64815 memory management and cache controller chip, and a 64-Kbyte
cache. The local bus servicing transactions among these components runs at
40 MHz to give a board performance rating of 29 SPECmarks. The board
requires 5 Vdc with 19 A max, uses the Futurebus+ 12SU form factor: 260.
825 (H) x 283.475 (D) mm. The operating temperature range is 0 degrees to
85 degreesC. The FBC-SS2 is 100% Solaris Unix-compatible and comes with an
SBus driver, a Futurebus+ driver, an open-boot PROM, and built-in test
software. ($14,990–60 days ARO.) Cable & Computer Technology, Inc.
