PC-based DSOs in
probe-sized packages
The 20- and 40-MHz PC-based digital sampling oscilloscopes are packaged
in 5 x 1 x 1/2-in. probe-style cases with a 5-ft connection cord. Both
have 8-bit resolution and feature 24 sampling rates, seven sampling depths
with a maximum of 32 ksamples, and six input voltage ranges. The internal
trigger level adjustment spans the full 8-bit range with positive or negative
slope selection, while an alternate external and manual trigger are located
on the probe.
The scopes connect to a PC via a standard parallel port with a Virtual
Tools interface adapter that provides two or eight channels. The instruments
come with Windows-based software that runs on PCs or laptops with 4 Mbytes
of RAM. (20-MHz model, $199; 40-MHz model, $249; two-channel interface
