Device offers low cost and reduced external
parts count

The 2.2-MHz LT1931A inverting dc/dc converter
claims to be the fastest of its kind to come in a
5-pin SOT-23 package. The device's high switching
frequency enables the use of small, low-cost
capacitors and inductors that reduce the total
pc-board footprint while maintaining a height
profile below 2 mm. The LT1931A generates –5 V at 300 mA from a
5-V input. Unlike simple CMOS charge pump
inverters, the low-noise negative output
maintains regulation under varying input
voltages.

The part operates from a 2.6 to 16-V supply and
features an internal switch rated at 1 A and 36 V.
Sleep-mode current is 0.01 µA. (From
$1.95 ea/1,000–available now.)
