Sensor Amplifier Integrates On-Chip Filtering For Increased Functionality in Small Package
Analog Devices has added a new member to its family of digitally programmable amplifiers with the introduction of a sensor amplifier well suited for a variety of automotive and industrial applications. The AD8556 features internal EMI (electromagnetic interference) filtering, a very wide temperature range, low offset voltage and drift, and open and shorted wire protection, making it ideal for pressure sensors in ABS (anti-lock brake systems), occupant detection systems, fuel level sensors, transmission controls, and precision strain or pressure gauges.
AD8556 offers high-linearity performance over a wide temperature range to ensure accuracy and reliability in harsher automotive and industrial environments
The AD8556 is a zero-drift, sensor amplifier with digitally programmable gain and output offset. Priced up to one-third less than competing solutions, the AD8556 is the industry’s only sensor amplifier to pack unprecedented combinations of performance into a small 4 mm x 4 mm LFCSP package.
ADI’s AD8556 is specified over a temperature range of –40o C to +140o degrees C to accommodate the temperature requirements of automotive and industrial applications. On-chip EMI filtering reduces the number of external components and enables the AD8556 to deliver high accuracy. For industrial and automotive systems that require precision and reliability, the AD8556 integrates gain and offset adjustment, and open and shorted wire protection.
