Devices form first military-grade off-the-shelf intermediate-bus architecture

Comprising a 50-W bus module and 16-W point-of-load converters, the HERO power system is presented as the first complete dc/dc intermediate-bus distributed-power architecture in which all parts meet military and aviation specifications, including temperature range, hermeticity, and screening. The 2.110 x 1.125 x 0.417-in. optocoupler-free DVHE bus converter accepts the MIL-STD-704 input range from 16 to 40 V (50-V transient) and delivers a single output of 1.9, 2.5, 3.3, or 5 V; the 1.0 x 0.8 x 0.27-in. DVPL point-of-load converters accept from 3.0 to 5.5 V and deliver an adjustable output from 0.8 to 3.3 V.

Also available in versions meeting MIL-PRF-38534 for critical reliability applications, the devices operate over a temperature range from –55° to 125°C with no derating. When used with the DVMC28 EMI filter, the devices comply with MIL-STD-461C/D EMC requirements as well. (Bus converter, from $595; POL converter, from $161�available now.)
