AEROFLEX PLAINVIEW ANNOUNCES ADDITION TO THEIR MIPS® MICROPROCESSOR PRODUCT FAMILY
Aeroflex Plainview, an Aeroflex Incorporated company, (NASDAQ:ARXX), announces the addition of the MIP7365 (450MHz) and MIP7965 (750Mhz) up-screened PMC-Sierra (RM7065 and RM7965) MIPS® microprocessors, offered in plastic packages, to their family of superscalar microprocessor products.
“Customers came to Aeroflex requesting the addition of plastic package capabilities for the MIPS microprocessors,” said Steve Friedman, standard product marketing manager. “The MIP7365 and MIP7965 were next on our roadmap to provide a path approaching 1GHz and the addition of plastic package offerings will benefit our customers. Our commitment to designers is to make future upgrades easy and without impacting their board design.”
The MIP7365 (based on the E7000 core) and the advanced MIP7965 (based on the E9000 core) processors represent a MIPS hierarchy with branch prediction, ECC on the L2 Cache, and EJTAG enhancements, capable of issuing two instructions each processor cycle. Their memory management units contain a 64/48-entry fully associative translational look-aside buffer (TLB) and a 64-bit system interface supporting multiple outstanding reads with out-of-order return and hardware prioritized and vectored interrupts.
