TranSwitch's PacketTrunk-4 Plus Serves as Building Block for TDM Circuit Emulation over IP, MPLS, and Switched Ethernet

TranSwitch® Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC), a leading provider of carrier-class semiconductor solutions for voice, data and video communications, today announced the PacketTrunkTM-4 Plus, a single-chip solution for implementing standards-compliant circuit emulation service (CES) interfaces and systems. CES, which is complementary to VoIP, offers a graceful, robust, and affordable migration path for transporting T1, E1, T3 and E3 circuits over packet-switched networks (PSN).

Industry’s first product to support all IETF PWE3 specifications for PDH including TDMoIP®, SAToP and CESoPSN

“The transport of T/E carrier signals and accurate timing over packet-switched networks is becoming increasingly important to manufacturers of access equipment,” said Daryl Inniss, vice president, Communications Semiconductors for Ovum-RHK. “With the advent of mature IETF PWE3 and other specifications for circuit emulation, service providers and enterprises now have a path to reliable, interoperable TDM interworking across heterogeneous networks.”
