AKM's New AES/EBU Transceiver Provides a Complete Clocking Solution for Digital Audio Systems
AKM Semiconductor, a leading supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets, today introduced the AK4115, an AES/EBU transceiver with an very low-jitter PLL. The latest addition to AKM’s Audio4pro™ family is ideal for meeting the demanding requirements of professional audio applications.
The AK4115 can lock on to either bi-phase AES streams or word clock (studio sync). Supporting sampling rates up to 216 kHz, the AK4115 is ideal for professional audio equipment such as digital mixers, clock generators, and broadcast consoles. The receiver section uses a very low jitter PLL to recover the master clock for the local digital audio interface. Supported clock standards include AES3, IEC60958, S/PDIF, and EIAJCP1201.
The AK4115 PLL features rms jitter below 80ps, higher conversion accuracy, and many more functions – including a word clock locking mode that generates master clocks from word clocks – for interfacing with studio equipment.
