Device suits demanding industrial and automotive apps

The AS5140H is presented as the industry’s first 10-bit magnetic rotary encoder IC fully qualified for ambient temperatures to 150°C. Offering a 0.35° resolution, the encoder’s high temperature rating suits for the harsh conditions typical of automotive and industrial applications.

Offered in a Pb-free SSOP-16 package, the encoder recognizes 1,024 positions within one 360 turn, accessible with either a serial or PWM interface. Other features include user-specific zero programming, diagnostics for correct magnet positioning, and power-supply interruption recognition.

Daisy-chain mode allows position data to be read serially over a two-wire bus. An integrated voltage regulator enables either 3.3- or 5-V operation. (Contact company for pricing—available now.)
