Supplying up to 4.5 W of power, the AAT1210 dc/dc boost converter takes a single-cell Li-ion battery voltage and boosts it to a 5-V/900-mA output in a total solution of less than 1 mm in height. The part operates from 2.7 to 5.5 V and features an output voltage which can be set from VIN of 0.5 V up to 18 V.
Additional features include a switching frequency of 2 MHz, efficiencies up to 90%, a hysteretic current mode control circuit, dynamic voltage scaling, cycle-by-cycle current limit, soft-start, and a single-wire S2Cwire interface. The part also offers a true load disconnect function which isolates the load from the power source when the part is turned off. Operating temperature is from -40° to 85°C, and the part is housed in 16-pin TDFN34 packages. ($1.31 ea/1,000-available now.)
