Covering bandwidths of 9 kHz to 7.1, 13, and 20 GHz, the MS271xB series microwave spectrum analyzers offer RF measurement performance and features unmatched by any other spectrum analyzers in its under-$20,000 price class. Thus, the series’ three models offer compact (242 x 372 x 339 mm), lightweight (5.6 kg), and cost-effective alternatives for bench testing of wireless and microwave components and systems used in commercial, aerospace/defense, and education markets.

With measurement performance that includes amplitude accuracy better than ±1.3 dB, and phase noise of 114 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset, the analyzers can easily test wireless local oscillators and synthesizers. A dynamic range of 100 dB typ allows precise testing of RF/microwave devices with exceptional linearity.

Productivity-improving features include rms detection, channel power-ratio measurements, AM/FM demodulation, limit testing, and extensive marker functions–including counted markers and marker noise measurements. The instruments also offer a 65-dB-range input step-attenuator and 20-W input protection to reduce the potential for damage due to operator error.

For EMC precompliance testing, the analyzers have a quasi-peak detector and CISPR bandwidths as standard features, and high-accuracy power meter functionality is optional. Also, all models optionally offer WCDMA/HSDPA RF measurements and IQ demodulation hardware, and the 7.1-GHz MS2717B has an optional tracking generator (to support filter and amplifier measurements) and optional WiMAX measurements.
