Qualification tester handles fiber, copper

The handheld Signaltek-FO network qualification tester lets users measure performance of both copper and fiber-optic cabling systems in accordance with IEEE 802.3 (Gigabit Ethernet) standards. The unit has an interchangeable SFP port with a duplex LC connector for fiber-optic qualification, and can switch between 850 and 1,300 nm.

Tests include GbE BERT, active LAN diagnostic, stress, and optical-attenuation-loss with a dynamic range to 20 dB. The unit has a 32-Mbyte memory able to store up to 20,000 tests, and it can provide printed pass/fail reports as well as perform multimode and single-mode qualification of cabling to 10 km.
