The MSP430F47x4 series ultra-low-power MCUs are intended for one- and two-phase energy metering applications, including wireless automated reading products. They feature four 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converters, a 32 x 32-bit hardware multiplier, and a 160-segment LCD driver. The 16-MHz 16-bit devices are said to enable a 5-to-1 reduction in system components with embedded signal processing, a USART, an SPI port, a voltage supervisor, and a 16-bit timer with three capture/compare registers.
The 64-pin QFP-packaged chips have up to 60 Kbytes of flash and a real-time clock. The chips have standby current as low as 1.5 µA, and wakeup to full clock speed takes only 6 µs. (From $7.50 ea/1,000samples available now.)
