Housed in a 6-mm2 TDFN package, the MAX8804Y/MAX8804Z dual-input Li+ battery chargers can withstand an input voltage up to 30 Vdc or 16 V USB. The parts can also shut off an input voltage higher than 7.5 V typ and integrate thermal-regulation circuitry.
Additionally, each charger integrates two high-voltage low-RDS(on) charging FETs, a reverse-current-blocking diode, a current-sensing resistor, and input overvoltage-protection circuitry. To further ensure superior performance, the chargers feature a flexible single-wire interface that enables programming of the charge-current level, delivers up to 700 mA of fast-charging current, and offers a 2-µA battery-leakage current when no input current is attached.
