Meeting the demand of equipment manufacturers for space- and cost-efficient solutions in radio applications with frequencies in the microwave range, the STW81103 RF synthesizer with integrated VCO is claimed to offer the highest-frequency coverage in the marketstretching out to 5 GHz. It also offers the industry’s best phase-noise performance at 0.27 rms at 1.16 GHz, 0.6 rms at 2.33 GHz, and 1.5 rms at 4.67 GHz, with a frequency step of 200 kHz.

The combination of wide-frequency-range VCOs (with automatic center-frequency calibration over 32 subbands) and multiple output options (direct output, divided by 2 or divided by 4) allows the device to cover the 625 to 762.5-MHz, 1,087.5 to 1,525-MHz, 2,175 to 3,050-MHz, and 4,350 to 5,000-MHz bands. Housed in a VFQFPN28 package, the device also features a 3.3-V supply, an 150-µs lockout time, a digital lock detector, and a power-down mode. ($5.39 ea/1,000available now.)
