The HMC611LP4/HMC611LP4E logarithmic detector/controllers are fabricated in a SiGe BiCMOS process, and convert RF signals at its differential input to a proportional output dc voltage. The parts delivers a ±1 dB dynamic range of greater than 60 dB from 50 MHz to 5.8 GHz and 54 dB dynamic range at 8 GHz with stability of 1 dB total error from -40 to 85C.
In logarithmic detection mode the devices provide a nominal logarithmic slope of -25 mV/dB and a nominal intercept of 12 dBm up to 5.8 GHz. The RF input is externally matched to 50 Ω and the device operates with a supply voltage of 5 V, consuming 106 mA.
