Optical transceiver fits CX4 footprint

The AVDAT 4X optical 10GbaseCX4 transceiver is a drop-in optical replacement for InfiniBand 4X and 10GbaseCX4 copper electrical connector receptacles. The compact four-lane optical transceiver is the industry’s first that is footprint and contact-pattern compatible with CX4.

The module extends the link reach to more than 100 m for 20-Gbaud speeds compared with only a few meters for copper cables. It uses standard multimode 12-fiber ribbons, has four channels in each direction at up to 5-Gbaud (DDR) line rate per channel, and uses 1 W typ from 3.3 V. (From $300—samples available now.)
