Able to operate as an actuator, sensor, or energy source, the P-876 piezo composite patch transducer consists of a piezoceramic foil sandwidched between two conductive film layers and embedded in a ductile composite-polymer structure. The highly flexible device can tolerate bending radii as low as 20 mm.
The piezo-ceramic is mechanically prestressed and electrically insulated for ruggedness. Used as a bender actuator, the unit allows deflections up to 0.8 mm with high force and precision, with a lifetime well over 109 cycles.
