Li-ion cell can operate at 125C

The VL 25500-125 Li-ion cell can operate at temperatures up to 125C. It is suitable for use in measurement-while-drilling (MWD) tools.

The electronics in the MWD tools are powered by onboard battery systems and must operate from well below 0C to more than 100C during drilling while enduring 20-G rms vibrations for a few hours to more than 20 hours. The Li-ion cell cancharge and discharge at extreme temperatures and can withstand temperatures up to 135C, which is more than the current maximum of 65C.
