Software resolves serious security problems via EAL6+ compliant policies

The Padded Cell Secure Hypervisor allows compartmentalization and virtualization of guest operating systems, and its EAL6+ compliant security policies aid resolution of serious security problems with the Internet, e-mail, the launch and execution of virus scanning software, electronic voting systems, and the protection of sensitive personal and medical records. The software takes advantage of the latest hardware virtualization support, including Intel vPro, to provide optimized virtualization performance without sacrificing security.

The hypervisor runs on top of the Integrity separation kernel, the only operating system to be accepted by a U.S. NIAP lab into a high-assurance (EAL6+) Common Criteria security evaluation. It supports general-purpose desktop and server operating systems such as Solaris, Red Hat Linux, BSD, and Windows, in both enterprise and embedded applications.

The package’s approach avoids security problems found in many hypervisors by using proven separation between virtual machines and by ensuring that the virtualization software itself runs as an application, unable to circumvent the security policies of the separation kernel.
