ESD protection diode achieves lowest capacitance for size

Single-line device supports high-speed portable electronics

The VBUS051BD-HD1 is presented as the industry’s first ESD single-line protection diode to provide capacitances down to 1.5 pF from the LLP1006 package, which offers a 0.6 x 1.0-mm footprint, 0.38-mm profile, and uses an environmentally friendly “green” molding compound. The part’s combination of small size and low capacitance suits high-speed portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, and medical applications.

Maximum leakage current is 0.1 µA at 5 V, maximum clamping voltage is 15 V at 3 A, and breakthrough voltage ratings are 8.7 V max and 7.9 V typ at 1 mA. The device provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) at ±15 kV (contact discharge). In accordance with IEC 61000-4-5 (lightning), the device provides a peak pulse current of 3 A (tp = 8/20 µs). ($9 ea/100—prod qty, 10 weeks ARO.)
