Ideal for dc/dc power-supply applications-such as servers and video-processing cards, the DS4412 sink/source current D/A converter features two output channels that are designed for power-supply margin testing and adjustment. Each output channel provides control of a dc/dc power supply by sinking or sourcing current directly into the power supply’s feedback node.
The full-scale output currents are set between 500 μA and 2mA using one external resistor for each channel. Through the I2 C bus, the output currents can then be set to any of the 15 linear sink or 15 linear source steps up to the maximum full-scale value. (From $0.45 ea/10,000—available now.)
