USB instrument can log two million parameters from multiple built-in or external sensors
Able to capture and store over two million measurements, the MSR 145 datalogger is a mere 52 x 20 x 15 mm and weighs just 16 g. Built into the minuscule USB-ported unit — said to be the smallest of its kind — are sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure, and three-axis acceleration/position.
Both pressure and humidity sensors have integrated thermometers, and records can be transferred to a PC either during or after measurement through the device’s USB port. The port also serves to recharge the unit’s 170-mAh Li-poly battery, which can last for several months of operation. For optional use, there are two 0 to 3.0-V analog inputs and one digital-trigger input.
Measurement ranges are 10° to 58°C (55° to 125°C with external sensor), 0% to 100% RH from 20° to 65°C, 0 to 2,500 mbar absolute pressure (0 to 14,000 mbar optional), and user-selectable ±10 G or ±2 G acceleration. Across the fundamental ranges, basic accuracy is ±0.2°C, ±2% RH, ±2.5 mbar and ±0.15 G.
Controlled by an internal clock that lets data from multiple inputs be merged into a single record, sampling rates are once every 12 hours to 1/s for temp and RH, 10/s for pressure, and 50/s for position/analog inputs.
