Coherent OTDR delivers improved dynamic range
For analysis of optical submarine cables up to 12,000 km long, the MW90010A Coherent OTDR has a dynamic range of ≥17 dB for detecting faults with 10-m resolution. The C-OTDR collects 1.2 million data points within 15 min to measure cables with optical repeaters at intervals of 80 km or more, capturing such data as cable loss, bending loss, and fiber length.
The OTDR’s built-in light source can be tuned with ±0.2-nm accuracy over the 1,535.03 to 1,565.08-nm range. Measuring 320 x 177 x 451 mm and weighing ≤17 kg, the instrument has a touch panel for easy operation. (From $40,000—available now.)
