Trimmer capacitor improves performance, stability

High-purity-ceramic dielectric construction supplants standard PTFE-based variable caps

The SGNM trimmer capacitor is constructed with a high-purity ceramic dielectric–a fairly new development for trimmers that, according to the company, increase performance, durability, and mechanical and electrical stability over currently available devices that use PTFE dielectrics. Suiting RF/microwave applications, the nonmagnetic variable capacitor features a nonrotating design, linear tunability with fine resolution, is sealable to 276 kPa, and can be used for cryogenic applications as low as 4 K.

Capacitances range from 1 to 10 pF in 5-pF increments, and from 10 to 180 pF, while dc working voltage ranges from 1.5 to 7.5 kV. Dc withstanding voltage is from 3 to 15 kV. The SGNM1706E version features an extended shaft. (Contact Marty Markson for pricing and availability.)
