Compared with other technical magazines in China, EP China includes the most comprehensive product information. In 2007, EP China introduced about 1,000 products to local readers.

The editors of EP China evaluated hundreds of products launched in 2007 on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology, or application and substantial achievement in price and performance. All the following winners have reasons to be unique in their categories.

The LTC6400 fully differential amplifier from Linear Technology includes gain-setting resistors, which simplifies the challenge of driving the highest-performance high-speed ADCs. It also achieves excellent noise and distortion performance.

BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing Limited is a leading analog integrated device manufacturer, or IDM, based in Greater China. Its inductor-based white-LED driver IC AP3029 is manufactured by BCD’s unique Poly-emitter process. By integrating a power transistor and Schottky diode, the entire system requires only a small number of external components. As a result, the system cost can be greatly reduced, along with the system size.

The lowest input voltage dc/dc boost converter TPS61200 from Texas Instruments enables portable electronic end-equipment to draw power from new energy sources, such as solar and microfuel cells. It helps to overcome the low-voltage design barrier of incorporating these alternative energy sources into portable applications.

Maxim’s MAX13485E / MAX13486E half-duplex RS-485 transceivers include fail-safe circuitry, guaranteeing a logic-high receiver output when receiver inputs are open or shorted.

SE4120S from SiGe Semiconductor is one of the smallest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver IC for mobile devices. The integrated architecture includes an on-chip high-gain LNA capable of delivering 18 dB of gain at a low-noise figure of 1.6 dB without needing bulky active antennas and costly power-hungry external amplification.

The TLE5010 from Infineon is a 360° sensor that detects the orientation of a magnetic field. This is achieved by measuring sine and cosine angle components with monolithic integrated Giant Magneto Resistance (GMR) elements.

Freescale Semiconductor’s Flexis series MCUs MC9S08QE128 (S08 core) and MCF51QE128 (ColdFire V1 core) are the 8- and 32-bit MCUs with pin-for-pin compatibility and a common set of on-chip peripherals and development tool, breaking new ground in 8- and 32-bit compatibility,

Ramtron’s FM22L16 is a high-density F-RAM product, with quadruple the F-RAM memory capacity available to date. It features fast access, virtually unlimited read/write cycles, low power consumption, and pin-compatible with SRAM.

Atmel’s CAP is an ARM MCU-based SoC with fast local memory, and a Metal Programmable (MP) Block that allows the designer to add custom logic. CAP enables application-specific products to be developed quicker and more economically than if using standard-cell ASICs. CAP also offers superior performance, smaller form factor and lower power consumption.

The TMS320DM6467 leverages TI’s DaVinci technology to meet the networked media encode and decode application processing needs of next-generation embedded devices. It features robust operating systems support, rich user interfaces, high processing performance, and long battery life through the maximum flexibility of a fully integrated mixed processor solution.

Cypress’s Astoria multimedia mass storage controller offers Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND Flash support that enables designers to use lowest-cost highest-density flash storage.

Altera’s zero-power MAX IIZ CPLDs can meet the needs of the most demanding battery or low-power applications. Its power consumption can be as low as 29 µA.

The inherent advantages of being thin, mechanically robust, and highly stable in terms of frequency stability afforded by SiTime’s patented SiRes MEMS resonator ideally position the Programmable Oscillator SiT8002UT to address portable, multichip module, and automotive applications that require low-profile clock references.

AWG5000 Series Arbitrary Waveform Generators from Tektronix delivers versatile mixed analog and digital signal generation, delivering a single, convenient interface to analog and digital IQ as well as IF signal generation.

RIGOL Technologies is an emerging local company in China in the test and measurement field. Its DS1000A has 2-Gsample/s maximum real-time sample rate, 50-Gsample/s maximum equivalent time sample rate, and up to 300 MHz of bandwidth, ensuring you capture and observe your entire signal. And its ultracompact design with small footprint saves your bench space.

Wet tantalum high-energy capacitor HE3 from Vishay Intertechnology offers high capacitance and features a unique case design with SuperTan technology for improved reliability and performance in high-energy applications.

N6705A Dc Power Analyzer from Agilent Technologies, ESD9L5.0S ESD protection diode from ON Semiconductor, PXI express mixed-signal suite modular instrumentation from National Instruments, and AD9271 Analog Front End from Analog Devices received the Product of the Year Awards from both EP and EP China for their distinguished features.

The 2007 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the February 2008 issue of Electronic Products China (http://www.epc.com.cn/annual/2007) with a brief description of each product. ■
