32-bit MCUs target easy LCD implementation

Processors yield up to 159 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS and include an LCD controller and 128 Kbytes of RAM

The MCF5227x 32-bit processors are designed for developers who want to easily add graphical display interfaces with touchscreen support. The ColdFire processors are equipped with an LCD controller for displays with up to a 800 x 600 resolution and 12- or 18-bit color, a CAN module, and a USB host, device, and OTG module.

The chips also have a touchscreen and A/D converter controller, an enhanced multiply-accumulate (eMAC) module, a crossbar switch, 128 Kbytes of dual-ported RAM, and a SDR/DDR SDRAM controller. Also provided are a real-time clock, a PWM module, DMA timers and controllers, and two interrupt timers, along with a uCLinux board-support package.

The chips run from a 1.5-V core, and 1.8-/2.5-/3.3-V I/O supplies and come in 196-pin BGA or 176-pin QFP packages. ($7.50 ea/10,000—samples available now.)
