Single-element antenna covers dual frequencies
A single-element patch antenna can receive and/or transmit two frequency bands in one 45-mm package, saving space and cost compared with using two, single-frequency devices. The antenna was developed for GPS using either Globalstar or Iridium.
The dual-frequency antenna supports frequencies from 1,575 to 1,615 MHz and 1,575 to 1,621 MHz. The patch antenna is a flat ceramic device that is available in RoHS-compliant versions. ($3 to $8 — available now.)
