Regulators have smart current limiting

Two step-down switching regulators, the PowerWise LM34917A and LM34919, are well suited for handheld devices and automotive power adapters. The highly integrated, nonsynchronous devices feature a supply voltage rating up to 50 V, intelligent current limiting, and overvoltage protection.

The regulators feature programmable switching frequency up to 2 MHz and integrate MOSFET switches. They use a constant on-time control scheme and are well-suited for applications that require high-input voltage regulations, and feature peak efficiency of 90%. The LM34917A supplies up to 1.25A to the load while the LM34919 provides up to 0.6 A. (Ea/1,000: LM34917A: $1.35; LM34919: $1.05 available now.)
