Low-cost precision frequency synthesizer soothes jitters
Device brings the cost down by a factor of nearly 5 and eliminates noise while lowering space requirements
Available in a 32-pin MLF package, the SY89610L precision frequency synthesizer is claimed to not only bring the cost down by a factor of nearly 5, but to also eliminate noise while reducing space requirements. The part tames jitter by offering an output of typically 1 ps rms while other synthesizers on the market typically have 40-ps rms jitter.
This product takes in selected frequency clocks between 19 and 694 MHz and puts out selected frequency with very low jitter. The device input accepts ac- or dc-coupled differential signals such as LVDS, LVPECL, and CML for maximum flexibility.
This IC has an LC VCO and auto-tune circuit that improves signal performance. The solution is targeted at datacom, telecom, servers, and storage markets, specifically, SONET/SDH, 10GeB FEC, 10GeB LAN PHY, and add-drop multiplexer applications. (From $12.84 ea/1,000 — samples available now.)
