Hall-effect IC switches come in tiny packages
Measuring just 1.1 x 1.1 x 0.5 mm, the Hall-effect switch family (including unipolar, omnipolar, polarity discriminating, and bipolar) features an average current of 3.5 µA and fully integrated compensation and push-pull CMOS logic output circuitry that make the switches an attractive alternative to mechanical switches and competitive Hall-effect devices. The integrated dynamic offset cancellation yields high sensitivity to allow for less-precise placement of the permanent magnet.
The integrated CMOS output eliminates the need for external pull-up resistors. In addition, the devices are rated at 8-kV ESD withstand and a temperature range from −40 to 85C. A slightly larger surface-mount package, measuring 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.6 mm, is also available. (Ea/prod qty: $0.11 (unipolar) to $0.64 (bipolar) 10-12 weeks ARO.)
