Low-cost dc bench supplies have high-end features
Priced from under $300, units provide precise load/line regulation along with fully integrated voltage/current protection and setup memory
Priced starting at under $300, the U8000 Series single-output, nonprogrammable benchtop dc power supplies offer features typically found only in much more costly programmable models. With maximum power ratings of 90 W (U8001A) and 150 W (U8002A), the supplies suit a variety of applications where sacrificing performance for savings is not an option.
The units come with fully integrated overvoltage and overcurrent protection to prevent damage to devices under test. Users can save up to three system settings during setup and later recall them, thereby increasing test and user efficiency while minimizing the possibility of manual errors.
Both units’ outputs range from 0 to 30 V, with the U8001A providing up to 3 A and the U8002A 5 A. Both units also offers excellent regulation of 0.01% + 2 mV and 0.02% + 2 mA as well as fast (50-µs) transient response, and low output noise (CV of 12 mVp-p,
The supplies have security features uncommon in standard supplies: a keypad lock to prevents measurement errors due to accidental/unauthorized front-panel use as well as a physical lock mechanism that secures instrument storage. (8001A, $295; U8002A, $370 — available now in Asia and the Americas, available in Europe July 28.)
